FAVOURITE APPLICATION: T.S.K. 1st set #10, T.S.K. 3rd set #5

THOUGHTS ON WADO-RYU:

Karate styles are like restaurants; They all have food. Finding a good teacher is the biggest battle. It is what the karateka puts into his or her Karate that makes the style. Wado-Ryu has a unique blend of soft & hard, fast & slow. Spending years trying to master the techniques within Wado-Ryu is the challenge. Passing on the knowledge to others is the task. Seeing a student master a technique is the goal.

developing and improving the mind, body and spirit of the karateka.

THOUGHTS ON WADO-RYU:

Wado-Ryu as a style incorporates aspects of Shotokan karate and ju-jitsu which gives it a blend of hard (forceful) and soft (flowing) techniques that I like. We practice a diverse range of kata that complement this variety of technique.

FAVOURITE APPLICATION: Mawashigeri Hiza & Jodan, Uramawashigeri

THOUGHTS ON WADO-RYU:

Tai Shi Kai has taught me how very important awareness is in all situations. To be able to see things differently to most other people because they don't have that awareness factor and don't realise the dangerous situation they are placing themselves in. I also enjoy pushing myself at every training session to continually try to improve on the last.

FAVOURITE WEAPON: BOKKEN

FAVOURITE KATA(S): Pinan Godan

FAVOURITE APPLICATION(S): T.S.K. SELF DEFENCE 1ST SET No. 2

MY THOUGHTS ON WADO-RYU KARATE ARE:-
Tai Shi Kai Wado-Ryu has a great mix of light and shade, hard and soft, extracting maximum results for the least amount of effort. I believe that using cooperation and partnership not leadership with my training buddy and other karateka creates an opportunity for the best outcome. I feel that basics have more use than advanced or fancy techniques in a real life situation.
