DOJO RULES
1. Students must bow upon entering or leaving the dojo. Inside the dojo
emphasis is placed on politeness and cultivation of spirit based on
gentleness and respect.2. Shoes must be removed upon entering the dojo and training area.
3. Upon entering the dojo students must bow to the instructor in charge of the
class. The instructors are titled Shihan, Sensei and Sempai.4. No idle chatter, laughing, or making comments during class is permitted.
Students should seek to develop as full a state of attentiveness as possible. Karate
requires and promotes the training of both the mind and the body.5. No jewelry eg; watches, rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, studs of any
description etc are to be worn during training. These items are to be removed
prior to training and may be replaced at the end of the class.6. It is important that your hands and feet are clean and both finger nails and toe
nails are kept short. Cleanliness and personal hygiene is common sense.7. Always acknowledge the instructor when you have been spoken to or
corrected during training by calling out the word Ossu.8. Students should endeavour to phone or leave a message if unable to attend
a class. Courtesy, respect and friendship are major ingredients of Karate-do.9. Students must train diligently in class and should do some additional
practice at home to aid improvement. In all practice emphasis is placed on
control, accuracy and non-contact.10. Students are not to teach or show new techniques, Kata etc. to other
students unless they have permission from the instructor. Do not attempt
to learn new techniques with out permission.11. Students should endeavor to learn and memorize the Dojo Kun, understand the message it contains and how it relates to them throughout life as a Karateka.
12. The dojo is to be kept clean at all times. Please help to keep the floor clean, dry and free of objects and participate in promoting a healthy, happy and safe training environment.
13. Please report any injury or illness to your instructor immediately.
14. If you have arrived late or the class has already commenced, students must
sign in, complete their kneeling bow then wait for permission to join the class.
15. The aim of every student is to help one another strive to become a better human being through the practice of respect, courtesy and friendship and diligent training.
