In February 2007 Shihan set up a junior class for young children aged from 6 to 9 years old. He called the class the “Young warriors”. Up until then the Academy had only accepted students from 10 years old and upward. The class has proved to be very popular with now up to 20 youngsters in the group and through word of mouth the group is steadily growing larger. The young warriors are not only taught to kick, punch and block but are also taught a range of subjects such as balance and coordination, awareness with strangers, anti bullying, healthy eating, stretching, first aid, self discipline and self confidence just to name a few. When a young warrior reaches ten years of age they automatically transfer into the main class thus leaving room for a new young warrior to take their place.
Sempai Mathew took over as the “Young Warriors” instructor in February 2009 and thoroughly enjoys taking his troupe through their twice weekly work out.
